Naruto Tutorial Request by herhinney Naruto Tutorial Request by herhinney
I would've done a better one but my computer is driving me CRAZY D< UUGGHHHH. ~SpiritLion16 requested a tutorial on Naruto style males and females as well as hair. I included a few other things just cause they struck me as important.

This was also my attempt to help other Naruto style artists learn to draw Naruto style and not need to edit, trace or steal. Yes this is a problem in the community lol and hopefully this might help. Or they'll trace it and pass it off as their own which would be hilariously ironic.

I'm using Addi my Naruto oc from my ~Addi-Pink-Power account, and her sexy-no-jutsu or m!self lol cause I can. I didn't really go into spikes cause I figured that'd be self-explanatory but essentially Naruto is just learning basic HUMAN anatomy and THEN learning the style. Your style will NEVER look at good as Kishimoto's if you just practice what you see in the anime because the anime is waayyyyyyyy lower quality then the manga lol Learn from REAL PEOPLE and take a freaking FIGURE DRAWING CLASS. Style comes second, basic understanding of anatomy is FIRST. Anyone that gives that bull shit that Picasso had his own style has clearly never seen Picasso's early work which was extremely realistic.

This is also BASIC FORM. This doesn't go into cross-dressing, bigger busts, skinnier forms, manly girls and girly men. This is straight up gender differences, as well as extremely average looking characters. I included the skeletons so you can see that you need to include the skulls so the head doesn't look wonky and rib cages help make a person not look too skinny.

For the hair I used references from the anime, just google Sasori, Hinata and Hidan and you'll find them. I just didn't want to include screen shots and risk getting this flagged as art theft or something. Those skulls aren't very good lol but it's just to remind you that a skull exists so don't make the eyes too big and don't forget the noses.

I'd also like to add that if you're practicing the style you might want to observe the MANGA more than the anime. No offense to the anime but it's really not as good as manga. The colors are nice but it's just really cheap looking, I loved the anime as a kid but as an adult the anatomy really isn't very good, the animation is painfully basic and dull and the movement just looks cheesy both English and Japanese versions.

All art (c) me
Style (c) Masashi Kishimoto.

I'm so glad! Thankyou :)

Good for you and good luck on your quest!

And by looking at real life first, look at real life references. Often times if someone isn't using references it looks fake or flat, especially with anatomy. Learning to draw in a style first will always cripple your ability to learn and get better, like, if you only drew in an anime style and only referenced anime you'll only ever be able to draw anime and if you attempted to draw a real person they'd look super cartoony and anime-ish as well. Draw a real person, with real weight, real proportions and real space and you'll learn styles faster. Does that make sense?

I get it! :) so human anatomy first, and that will better help me develop a style? how long do you think it will take to fully learn the human anatomy and how to draw a real person?

YAY! :) Take some life drawing classes they're SUPER helpful! Honestly you CAN learn from the internet but 3D shapes make more sense in person then on a screen but if you can't take those classes/aren't old enough Senshistock does some great life modeling www.deviantart.com/art/The-For…

I have a question. Would I be able to use the same style to draw my own anime? :o
Or is that copyright? Even though I won't use any character from Naruto at all.

I don't think so, I've seen a lot of animes that have similar styles. I think people might point it out and you'd constantly be reminded "oh that style looks like Naruto/kishimoto's style/etc." but I don't think they own the style. I believe only characters can be copyrighted so style should be up for grabs as long as you don't trace/steal which I'm sure you don't so that doesn't even apply to you. Good luck on your anime by the way lol :D

Awesome! That's great! Just keep practicing is all you can really do lol Guide lines are alright, just try and focus on learning proportions though, that'll be what really saves you.

It really is different isn't it? The manga has more time put into it I guess. You are so very welcome :D I hope it helps.

I myself am working on a tutorial [different style though] so I know you had to put A LOT of effort into this xD It really is helpful, so I'm not blowing smoke up your arse here. And mangas tend to be more detail don't they? On the anime they screwed up on some of the coloring too xD Like sometimes the eye colors will change, or hair color is a shade off.

Ah neat! When you post it I'd love to see it :D Thanks, it took a bit of work mostly trying to think of the most basic way to explain something without going "heres how I draw...um...LEARN." lol I'm glad I could help :D The anime is also done in a shorter time frame with less love and care(for most animes not ALL animes of course lol) like Death Note was just as amazing in the anime as the manga, but Naruto suffers from "zomg we need to animate as much as we can holy shit he has like fifty books out do you know how much animation that is." Lol I hate when anime messes up colors D8

Yeeah, it's hard explaining the basics, when it's just natural to you xD And I think Naruto really did lose a lot in translation from Manga to Anime. Much more simplistic, and sometimes anatomy is off xD I have started re-watching the anime, and now that I have a more...artistic appreciation, I also see the flaws, like when it looks like someone's finger should be broken xD Or when they're just a blob.

And I shall show you! It's all powerpoint-y 8D

It really does, I mean the anime isn't TERRIBLE but rewatching it a few weeks ago I saw that there was a lot off with it that the manga didn't mess up nearly as bad. Mostly their movements and blinking is awkward, I mean I still love it, but the animation at some parts leaves something to be desired lol
LOL I love when they're just a blob it's like "how did nobody catch that D<"

OH neat :D Sounds good~

Sometimes also, the way the character looks doesn't translate into the anime. Like Gaara as a little kid looks really intense in the manga, and in the anime he just looks adorable xD! But most times when we're watching for the first time we don't notice because...we feel pretty awesome that it's even an anime xD Though I found out Naruto is like... 12 years old as an anime? It's ancient xD Bleach and Naruto are the oldest I believe.

This person asked me to do one despite the fact I clearly do NOT draw itanymore.

I pointed to your tut for guidance. I didn't think they would ask you too.

lol she seemed to be asking quite a few people, I've been meaning to update my old tutorial though, the older one was quite out of date lol oh god I was horrible and yet I tried to teach others DX

Eh, I've been meaning to do it anyway so I don't really care. I hope this tutorial inspires people to not trace though lol I really do apparently a few of my friends have gotten their art stolen and traced and I hope if people can do it themselves they won't WANT to trace, ya know?

True. Maybe of more people spot tuts they realize picking up a pencil or using their expensive art program to trace is fucking bull.
